Study Skills & Tutoring

Do you need help with study skills? Are you looking for tutoring? IU Bloomington offers many good resources for students.

Study Skills

Academic Support Centers (ASCs) at Briscoe, Forest, and Teter Residence Halls facilitate group and individual tutorials, study groups, and study tables, and offer academic advising and workshops on study skills.

The Student Academic Center offers courses designed to improve students’ academic performance, free “Study Smarter” and “College and Lifelong Learning” Workshops, supplemental instruction for some classes, and individualized academic assessment and assistance.

Tutoring
African Languages

The Academic Support Center runs free tutoring for Swahili, Twi, and Zulu.

Biology

The Academic Support Center runs free biology tutoring for introductory classes. The Department of Biology provides a list of tutors for biology classes.

Business

The Academic Support Center provides free introductory tutoring for BUS-A 100, A 201, and K 201.

Chemistry

The Academic Support Center runs free chemistry tutoring for introductory classes. The Department of Chemistry provides free tutoring for 100-level courses as well as a list of private tutors for all chemistry classes. The Department of Chemistry also maintains a list of other useful Chemistry resources.

Economics

The Department of Economics provides a list of tutors for ECON-E201 and ECON-E202 as well as a list of tutors for ECON-E370.

Informatics and Computing

The School of Informatics and Computing maintains a list of advanced undergraduate students willing to be hired to tutor for informatics and computer science classes. To find this list, scroll down to the bottom of the Undergraduate Advising web page and find “Academic Tutors.”

Math

The Math Learning Center and the Academic Support Center offer free assistance with preparatory and introductory math courses.

Writing

Writing Tutorial Services provides free walk-in and scheduled appointments to assist students at any stage of the writing process. They also provide tutoring at the Academic Support Center.
