Partnerships

Indiana University Bloomington strives to develop partnerships with local organizations that are based on the educational mission of the university and are built on mutual investment and cooperation.

IU is an active member of the Bloomington and Ellettsville Chambers of Commerce and the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation, and our employees are the leading contributors to the United Way of Monroe County.

In this spirit of collaboration, former IU President Myles Brand also established the Town and Gown Committee in 1996. The mission of the committee is to enhance communication between IU Bloomington and the public and private sectors of the city and county, and to develop a dynamic agenda of common challenges in which the group can reach mutually beneficial solutions. The group — which meets quarterly — is comprised of community, government, and university leaders and chaired by the IU Bloomington Provost.
