Nile Arena (Oliver Martext) is a senior majoring in theatre. Previously, Nile appeared in the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center’s production of An Ideal Husband (French Ambassador). He has also appeared at the University of Kent in Wreckhouse (Thomas O’Steinway) and the Chicago College of Performing Arts in Fable Settings (Terry). Nile is from Louisville, Kentucky. |

Mark Banik (Orlando) is a senior B.F.A. student in musical theatre. He has appeared in Oklahoma! (Curly), Hamlet (Guildenstern), The Day Boy and the Night Girl (Fargu), IU Black Play Lab’s staged reading of Bulletproof Hearts, and Seussical (Wickersham Brother) at the Norvelle Center. He performed as Brother Ben in Happy End (Raven Theatre, Chicago). Mark has trained at the Tennessee Williams Intensive, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and the New Actor’s Workshop. PRODUCTION TEAM
Fontaine Syer (Director) is an associate professor of theatre and drama teaching acting and directing, joining the Department of Theatre and Drama in fall 2005. She has worked as an actor and director in regional theatres for nearly 30 years. Most recently, she was artistic director of Delaware Theatre Company in Wilmington. From 1992-96, she served as associate artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where she acted/directed each season. She also was co-founder and Artistic Director of Theatre Project Company in St. Louis, Missouri, from 1975-1989. Syer has worked as a free-lancer in theatres across the country, including the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Missouri Repertory Theatre, Pennsylvania Centre Stage, Meadowbrook Theatre in Michigan, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Since joining the IU faculty she has directed Measure for Measure, She Stoops to Conquer, and The Crucible in the Norvelle Center.
Hyunsuk Shin (Senic Designer) is a third-year M.F.A. student in scenic design with a B.A. from the University of Utah. For the Norvelle Center, she designed Marisol and Metamorphoses. Other credits: design for Three Sisters, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Dancing at Lughnasa, Clouds, Stags and Hens, and Tape at Utah; painter for Beauty and the Beast, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Peter Pan at Pioneer Theatre; Zorro, Triumph of Love, and Pal Joey at Utah Shakespearean Festival. Hyunsuk is from South Korea.
Jennifer Sheshko (Costume Designer) is a second-year M.F.A. student in costume design. She holds a BFA from Concordia University (Montreal) and a DEC from John Abbott College (Montreal), both in theatre design. For the Norvelle Center, Jennifer was Costume Designer on Stop Kiss, stitcher on all the fall season’s shows, and wardrobe supervisor for Dead Man Walking. Elsewhere, she has designed costumes for numerous productions, including Quills, Annie Get Your Gun, Bedtime Stories, Monster, and Guys & Dolls. Jennifer is from Montreal, Quebec.
Liz Replogle (Lighting Designer) is a third-year M.F.A student in lighting design with a B.A in theater and folklore/mythology from George Mason University. At the Norvelle Center she designed lighting for The America Play, Dead Man Walking and Metamorphoses. She also designed sound for An Ideal Husband. At George Mason she designed lighting for The Dead. Liz has been the master electrician for Imagination Stage, a production supervisor at Atmosphere Lighting, Inc., and a stage manager for the Theatre of the 1st Amendment.
Christopher Wood (Sound Designer) is a second-year M.F.A. student in lighting design, with a B.A. in theatre from the University of Nebraska – Omaha. At the Norvelle Center, he was lighting designer for Stop Kiss and Blood Brothers, assistant lighting designer for Marisol, projection coordinator for Hamlet, and assistant master electrician for Dead Man Walking. Christopher won the 2008 KC/ACTF Region 5 Barbizon Light Design Award for Our Country’s Good (UNO) and served as assistant lighting designer for the Des Moines Metro Opera. He comes from Omaha, Nebraska.
Hillary Kern (Stage Manager) is a senior majoring in theatre with concentrations in stage management and costume design. For the Norvelle Center, she worked as an assistant stage manager for The America Play. She also served as an assistant stage manager for All Night Strut, There Goes the Bride, and Present Laughter at The Brown County Playhouse. Hillary is from Malibu, CA.
Jonathan Courtemanche (Assistant Director) is a second-year M.F.A. directing student. He received a B.A. in theatre and drama from the University of Wisconsin. At Indiana University he assistant directed Hamlet and directed the independent projects The Baltimore Waltz, The Credeaux Canvas, The Picture (of Dorian Grey), and Goodbye, Oscar. Previous directing credits include Doubt and If the Shoe Fits for BoarsHead Theater in Lansing, Michigan. Jonathan has also worked with Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Madison Repertory Theatre, and The Ohio Light Opera.
Stephanie Stout (Assistant Stage Manager) is a senior majoring in journalism. As You Like It is her first Norvelle Center Production. She was a reporter, anchor, and public relations manager for Indiana University Student Television. She is also a house leader for Christian Student Fellowship, and was the director of youth programming for Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. Stephanie is from Fishers, Indiana.
Matthew Tepperman (Assistant Stage Manager) is a junior majoring in theatre and drama and Jewish studies. As You Like It is Matthews first production for the Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center. He has appeared as Lt. Schrank in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem’s production of West Side Story. Matthew is a member of The Singing Hoosiers and is on the student board of the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center at Indiana University. Matthew is from Munster, Indiana.
Lauren Zadina (Production Assistant) is a freshman majoring in theatre and drama and telecommunications. As You Like It is her first Norvelle Center production. She has previously appeared in Raining Season (Margot) for the National Holocaust Museum, Abduction (Super) for the Chicago Lyric Opera, and Bye Bye Birdie (Ursula) for the Deerfield Family Theater. Lauren is from Chicago, Illinois.
Adam Noble (Movement Coach/Combat Choreographer) is assistant professor of theatre and drama teaching movement/combat for the Department of Theatre and Drama. He is also a professional actor, with credits including Shakespeare in the Park (NYSF), Lincoln Center Director’s Lab, Julliard, P.S. 122, Seattle Rep, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and On the Boards. In addition to his role as professor, Adam is a dancer, martial artist, traceur, and stuntman, with movement and combat credits in the worlds of film, theatre, and opera. Adam is a member of the Actors Equity Association, the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, and the Society of American Fight Directors. He has taught movement and stage combat in New York, California, Nebraska, Ohio, and Washington, and choreographed the violence for over 80 stage and film productions.
Nancy Lipschultz (Voice and Speech Coach), associate professor of theatre and drama teaching voice and speech, has worked as an actress in New York, California, Michigan, Texas and Chicago, including the new play series at Chicago’s Victory Gardens in High Holidays by Alan Gross, as well as overseas in London and is a veteran of six Fringe festivals in Edinburgh. She has worked on feature films, industrials, commercials, and, network television and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actors’ Equity, and VASTA. Nancy has been a professor of acting, voice and directing at Cornell University, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wayne State University. Directing credits include: Evita, Much Ado About Nothing, Twilight Los Angeles, and Fires in the Mirror. She recently coached the New York City Opera production of Dead Man Walking, directed by Tony Award winner Leonard Foglia, and the National Tour of Kiss Me Kate. She is the voice for Lexus GPS systems for Inter Group Corporation, Tokyo.
