In this new interpretation of Shakespeare’s final work, Prospero is exiled to an imaginary enchanted island off the coast of South Africa, where he harnesses the powers of magic and masters the spirits that dwell there. His desire for
revenge drives him to conjure a mighty storm, trapping his enemies on the island.
Supported by - Indiana University’s New Frontiers Program, funded by the Lilly Endowment and administered by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. Starring South African Shakespearean actor Stephen Gurney as Prospero, and students from the University of KwaZulu/Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa alongside students from Indiana University, Bloomington.
