Foreign Language Teaching Share Fair
Wylie Hall 015

Meet new colleagues and hear practical and proven teaching suggestions you can use! Ideas from all languages are welcome even ideas that do not seem immediately applicable to another language can spark creativity or be adapted effectively. To keep our creative juices flowing, a variety of refreshments will be served! This years theme: "Warm-Ups and Wrap-Ups" We do not jump into a work-out before we have warmed up. Nor do we abruptly end an intense physical exercise. Just like when we exercise, short warm-up activities get our students energized and, at the same time, set the tone for the lesson. Final wrap-up activities can tie together an entire lesson, repeat and firm up new skills, or just help students feel comfortable. We invite you to share your "warm-up" and "wrap-up" ideas with your colleagues. How do you get your students going at the beginning of class? How do you wrap-up a lesson? Do you play music? word games? make use of the good old black board or technology in the classroom? Activities for any level of language study are welcome!

You might consider taking an angle on the theme, such as:
- Culture (big C and little c)
- Learning strategies
- Group-work
- Technology (internet, e-mail, video, etc.)
- Time management / class organization / classroom etiquette
- Pragmatics; language in a social context
- Pronunciation
- Testing and assessment
- Four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing)

Presentations will be limited to *3-5 minutes*. Your presentation will be more effective if you invite audience members to participate and actually "do" the classroom activities you share. In other words, don't just "tell"! Rather, "show" and "include" the audience in hands-on activities! Wylie 015 is fully equipped with computer, Internet and video resources.
