Teaching Responsibilities

I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in diagnostic audiology, clinical instrumentation and calibration, amplification, and reading research.

Clinical/Research Interests

Research involvement has included such topics as hearing conservation programs, central auditory processing in children, the hearing aid effect, the contribution of high-frequency audibility to speech understanding, practice and training effects for speech understanding, and factors for predicting benefit and successful use of amplification. Particular interests lie in research matters with tangible clinical implications. The Center for Hearing Aid Research and Technical Training (CHARTT) conducts clinical trials and sponsors conferences that provide recent research findings and technical training for emerging hearing aid technologies.

Clinical interests include all components of the primary audiological test battery, fitting and verification of amplification, and aural rehabilitation and counseling for children and adults. I supervise undergraduate and graduate students in the hearing clinic, and conduct a support group for working and retired adults with hearing impairment.
