HumesProfessor Teaching ResponsibilitiesProfessor Humes' primary teaching responsibilities are in acoustics and instrumentation for AuD students in audiology, hearing-aid fundamentals for AuD students in audiology, and a variety of Ph.D. seminars covering topics such as Auditory Perception in Hearing-Impaired Listeners, Speech Recognition in Normal and Hearing-Impaired Listeners, and Aging and the Auditory System. Clinical/Research InterestsProfessor Humes' research has focused on two primary areas: (1) studies of psychoacoustics or auditory perception, in normal and hearing-impaired ears; and (2) studies of speech understanding by normal and hearing-impaired listeners. Regarding the latter area, special emphasis has been placed recently on the elderly and their use of hearing aids to improve speech understanding.
