Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid

Admissions to the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences follows the admissions and financial aid procedures of the University Graduate School.

Required Materials and Deadlines

To be considered for financial aid, your completed application must be received by January 15. You can apply online at http://graduate.indiana.edu/admissions.php. Applications will not be considered until ALL SIX of the items listed below have been received. These items should be returned to:

____4. Test results for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). If you haven’t taken the GRE prior to submitting your application, please indicate the anticipated test date on your application. (GRE Codes: Audiology 0602, Speech 0620)

Admission Guidelines

Completion of an undergraduate degree in speech and hearing sciences or an acceptable related field (e.g., biology, engineering, linguistics, psychology).
Recommended Grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Recommmended Graduate Record Examination score in excess of 1000 for the verbal and quantitative sections combined (or 600 on any one section)

In addition to the guidelines above, all international applicants must have a TOEFL score that meets or exceeds the following:

Internet-based: 100
Computer-based: 250
Paper-based: 600

Additionally, students wishing to complete a clinical Master’s or AuD degree, will first be admitted into a non-clinical track until they have received satisfactory scores on the two following tests, which can be completed upon arrival to Indiana University:

Indiana English Proficiency Examination (pass/fail scoring)
Test of English Proficiency for International Associate Instructor Candidates (score of C2 or C1)
