Schmooze with other SPEA alumni, faculty, and staff and test your knowledge of pop culture and SPEA! SPEA’s own Marty Posch, MPA, ’09, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Appetizers and 2 drink tickets are included in the price.
  • Up to 6 people per team
  • Sign up as a team or individual and we will put you on a team at the event.
  • Trivia questions start at 5:45 p.m.
  • Interested but curious about what kind of questions we could possibly ask?
    Here’s a taste:
    • What bank robber was born in Indianapolis, but was killed by police and federal agents in Chicago?
    • A candidate must be a US citizen to be Governor of the state of Indiana, but does the candidate have to have been born in the United States?
Price is only $10 for members of the IU Alumni Association and $15 for everyone else!
*Proceeds will be directed to SPEA Student Scholarships

SPEA Auction and Gala
The SPEA Auction and Gala was a hit this year and brought in over $5,000 that will help students in unpaid internships this summer. The first VIP Alumni Reception was also well attended and a great way for alumni to connect with other alumni who came out to support this great cause. Next year we plan to promote our VIP Reception to a larger audience and if you would like to attend, please email to ensure you’re included on the guest list.

Charles F. Bonser Lecture Series in Public Policy
We are very thankful that Professor Michael Burda was able to present his lecture Trial by Error or Trial by Fire? This series is an amazing opportunity for students, staff/faculty, and alumni to learn about areas of discussion that many other lecture series do not cover. Look for more of the Charles F. Bonser Lecture Series in Public Policy speakers in the fall of 2014.

SPEACon 2014 Alumni Mini Conference
Spent the afternoon at the IUPUI Campus Center with SPEA alumni and students learning more about all things SPEA. Panels included alumni sharing what it’s like to work in several industries, across sectors, and faculty discussing their current research. SPEA students also highlighted exciting projects for local government, nonprofit and private organizations.

Chicago Alumni Event
SPEA Professors Michael Rushton and Joanna Woronkowicz along with SPEA alums Michelle Boone and Lisa Key presented to a packed room of SPEA Alums, friends and current students during the Chicago Colloquium. Students and alums mingled during the networking reception following the Colloquium working to make lasting connections. Pictures are on FB go here to view. D.C. Alumni Networking Meet-n-Greet
Over 90 alums and 60 students were in attendance at the Old Ebbitt Grill for a night of networking and fun. Alums from every area of SPEA brought their knowledge of living and working in DC to share with the eager and ambitious young minds. This event grows each year and we hope you can be a part of it in the future!

SPEA Alumni Association Online Auction
This auction supports the SPEA Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. The auction raised more than $5,000 and brought the scholarship fund total closer to the Board’s goal of being able to award 4 scholarships in 2014. SPEA Networking Meet-n-Greet in Denver
Over 50 students gathered at Katie Mullen’s Irish Pub for an evening with local IU alums. Denver is becoming one of the most sought after locations and students were excited to learn more about career opportunities and the local scene.

Local non-profit leaders interacted with several SPEA students to hear about their ideas on ways to improve non-profit organizations.

2013 Fall Capitol Hill Colloquium and Reception
Standing room only was the theme for the riveting 2013 Capitol Hill Colloquium. Former Senator Evan Bayh treated the more than 180 alumni and friends to insights on the current state of politics as well as personal stories about his successes and struggles while in office. The Washington Leadership Program, SPEA Connect, SPEA IUB and SPEA IUPUI all had students in attendance for a delightful speech and engaging networking event. We hope you can join us next year!

Over 60 alumni, students, SPEA faculty and staff enjoyed an evening of networking and watching the IU Hoosiers seal a win in NCAA March Madness tournament at Euphoria in Indianapolis.

SPEA in Chicago: The Promise & Perils of School Choice in Chicago
Over 100 IU alumni, friends, prospective and current SPEA students enjoyed discussions on education policy and a networking reception at the John Barleycorn- River North. SPEA Professor Ashlyn Nelson shared insights on the positive and negative outcomes of school choice, and IU alumnus Michael Milkie, superintendent of the Noble Network of Charter Schools, discussed the challenges facing public schools in Chicago.
