Perry receives ASA Distinguished Article Award

Congratulations to Brea Perry, whose article (with Ed Morris) “Suspending Progress: Collateral Consequences of Exclusionary Punishment in Public Schools,” is the recipient of the ASA Crime, Law, and Deviance section’s James F. Short Distinguished Article Award. This is the second award for this article; it also is the recipient of the ASA Sociology of Education section’s James Coleman Award.

Powell receives ASA Distinguished Career Award

Brian Powell is the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Career Award from the American Sociological Association's Family Section, recognizing his groundbreaking work on GLBTQ families.


2016 Allen D. and Polly S. Grimshaw Lecture

The Grimshaw Lecture will be delivered by Shelley Correll, Professor of Sociology and the Barbara D. Finberg Director of Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Research on Gender at Stanford University. The lecture is scheduled for Friday, October 28 in the mid-afternoon.

The Race and Education Symposium will take place on September 16, 2016 in the Frangipani Room in the Indiana Memorial Union.
