New Faculty Luncheon

Oct 26, 2010

Sigma Xi's annual luncheon for new faculty in the sciences is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov 03, 2010 in the alcove on the west side of the Tudor Room (left as you enter) in the Indiana Memorial Union. We will start to gather in the Tudor Room lobby at about 11:45 AM. Most of us will go to the buffet at about Noon.

This year each person will pay the , except, of course, for our new faculty guests. Also, we can help some students attend, who cannot afford the cost.

We hope you will join us to welcome our new colleagues to IU. A good turnout will help welcome them warmly to the University's community of scientists. Please pass on this invitation to colleagues who are not members of Sigma Xi. They may be interested in meeting our new colleages

We have invited new faculty from science departments across campus as our guests, including Anthropology, Allied Health Sciences, Education, Geological Sciences, History & Philosophy of Science, Informatics, Kinesiology, Mathematics, Physics, SLIS, SPEA.

The program for the luncheon is devoted primarily to our new colleagues and their research. They have been asked to introduce themselves and their research in an informal 2-5 minute presentation. After all the presentations have been made, we encourage everyone to speak to one or more of our new colleages individually or in small groups. The Tudor Room closes at 1:30.

We hope you will come to welcome our new colleagues and learn a bit about what they are doing, and to find out a bit about their research. If you know a new faculty member, please add your own personal invitation to the Chapter's. You are welcome to invite non-members to attend.

Please let our treasurer, Alyce Fly ( 855-7975), or me (frommer@indiana.edu 855- 1279) know as soon as possible whether you plan to come, so we can give the Tudor Room a good estimate of the number of people to expect.

We hope to see you on Wednesday, Nov 03.

Cordially,

Gabriel Frommer,
for the executive committee: Kevin D.Hunt, Al Ruesink, Alice Fly, Hal Sabbagh.
