  • Central Intelligence Agency
    The CIA recruits students with superior foreign language skills to work as intelligence analysts and operatives both in the US and abroad.
  • Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
    DIA provides accurate and timely information on ground, naval, air, and missile and space forces around the world. They seek people with strong research, analytical, and technical skills to work as intelligence officers, scientists, engineers, and information technology specialists.
  • Fed World
    Similar to USAJobs, this site allows jobseekers to search for vacancy announcements in all federal government agencies.
  • Federal Job Source
    This site does not actually post employment opportunitues, but has a long list of links to other government agencies' career pages, as well as links to sites that post job vacancies in DC.
  • Foreign Policy Association
    Has list of job openings at a variety of NGOs that work in international development, including IREX and Freedom House.
  • Government Accountability Office (formerly General Accounting Office)
    The GAO has various teams that work in offices around the US, from which they perform evaluations and audits of other government agencies. The teams include the International Affairs and Trade Team and the Natural Resources and Environment Team.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable
    This agency coordinates and shares information about language-related activities at the Federal government level. Their homepage has a list of links to government agencies and offices that hire individuals with superior foreign language skills.
  • Library of Congress
    "The Library of Congress Junior Fellows Program" allows students or recent graduates to work with primary source materials, organize and document archival collections, produce finding aids and bibliographic records, do bibliographical research; and contribute to the Library's efforts to digitize its historical collections.
  • National Virtual Translation Center
    NVTC acts as a governmental clearinghouse for facilitating interagency use of translators by partnering with elements of the U.S. Government, academia, and private industry to identify translator resources and engage their services as virtually-connected linguists and translators. They can work on a full or part time basis or as needed, from home or from designated Government facilities. Visit their website to establish a profile and add yourself to their database.
  • National Security Agency (NSA)
    The NSA is America's cryptologic organization, which coordinates, directs, and performs highly specialized activities to protect U.S. information systems and produce foreign intelligence information. They hire individuals with foreign language skills to serve as translators and analysts.
  • Nonproliferation Graduate Program, Department of Energy (DOE)
    Offers a 14-month paid internship for graduate students interested in exploring a career in nuclear nonproliferation.
  • Roll Call Jobs
    Offered through Roll Call Newspaper, the leading publication for Congressional news and information, Roll Call Jobs is an online job search engine with many U.S. and international job postings from government and nonprofit organizations.
  • United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
    USAID works on international economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance and has offices worldwide.
  • U.S. Department of State
    Has both a domestic civil service and a foreign service branch with postings worldwide with political, economic, management, consular and public affairs specializations. Only the foreign services requires applicants to take and pass the Foreign Service exam.
  • USAJOBS (United States Office of Personnel Management)
    USAJOBS is the Federal Government's official one-stop source for Federal jobs and employment information.
  • U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
    OPM is the federal government's Human Resources agency. This page has links to other lists of federal jobs and job search engines.
