Marina Cap-Bun

Dr. MARINA CAP-BUN (b. 1962) is an associate professor at Ovidius University of Constanţa, Romania, where she teaches The Great Classics of Romanian Literature, Romanian Culture and Civilization, Romanian Studies in European Perspectives, Fantastic Literature, The Poetics of the Absurd Theatre. During the academic year 2001-2002 she was Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar at University of Washington, Seattle, where she taught Romanian Language and Civilization and The Fantastic and the Absurd in World Literature, and Guest Lecturer at Indiana University. She has authored: Mirrors within Mirrors: A Study on I.L. Caragiale’s Works (1998); Between the Absurd and the Fantastic: Voyages in the Mirage Waters (2001); Critical Essays (2003); The Great Classics of Romanian Literature (2003) Criss-Cross: Essays in Romanian and Comparative Literature (Munich, 2004; 2nd edition 2006) and more than 100 studies and articles in Romanian and international publications. She is mentioned in: The Encyclopedia of the Romanian Personalities (Nördlingen: Hübners Who is who, 2006), The Bibliographic Dictionary of Romanian Literature (2006), The History of Romanian Literature in Dobrogea (2005)and her works are cited in critical editions. She is a member of: The NURC (National University Research Council) Center Cultural Interferences; The Association of Romanian Writers; The Romanian Association for Comparative and General Literature, affiliated to International Comparative Literature Association; North American Society for Romanian Studies; Romanian Association for American Studies, affiliated to European Association for American Studies; Romanian Society for English and American Studies, affiliated to European Society for the Study of English; Groupe Roumain de Liguistique Appliquee, affiliated to Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquee; Romanian Fulbright Alumni Association, Association for intercultural dialog (president). She is also a member of the NURC team research project: Shakespeare in Romanian Cultural Memory, and other scientific projects.
