The annual flu shot program for full-time academic and staff employees, sponsored by Indiana University Human Resources Services and provided by IU Health Center, has been extended due to the late arrival of seasonal flu vaccine.

To make an appointment

You must have your Employee ID number when calling to schedule an appointment or when you register at a walk-up clinic. In addition, a medical plan ID card bearing the recipient's name is required at the time of immunization, otherwise the cost is $21.25. There is a $10.00 charge for appointment cancelled without 2 hours notice.

People at greatest risk from the seasonal flu

There are some individuals who are at serious risk if they get the flu and an annual flu shot is recommended:

  • Anyone over the age of 50

  • People with a long-term health problem such as heart, kidney or lung disease or diabetes

  • People with illnesses or medications which weakens their immune system

  • People in close contact with people in the above risk groups

  • All women who will be pregnant during the flu season (usually November-March)

The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated. The IU Health Center strongly recommends that all IU employees get vaccinated. It's particularly important if you are in one of the aforementioned risk categories.
