Human Influenza A (H1N1)There have been a small number of confirmed cases of Human Influenza A (H1N1) at Indiana University. However, campus is open and there are no plans to alter university operating schedules. The university continues to monitor the situation.
Updates UpdatesJune 11: The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert to phase 6. However, at this time, WHO considers the overall severity of the influenza pandemic to be moderate. What is phase 6? June 3: IU officials have confirmed that a few students on campus have tested positive for the H1N1 virus on separate occasions, but in all cases the students experienced only mild symptoms and have completely recovered. Each student remained in self-isolation while ill and is now past the contagious period. Campus ResourcesAlthough the risk of an outbreak on campus is small, Indiana University takes this possibility very seriously. Planners from several IU departments have worked with leaders from within the state of Indiana, Monroe County, and Bloomington Hospital to develop coordinated contingency plans that can be implemented in event of an outbreak. The following resources will keep you informed and prepared in the unlikely event that a case is reported.
