Giving to the Department
The Department of Philosophy has benefited enormously from the generous gifts of many individuals, including dept or university alumni, relatives of deceased faculty members, and benefactors with no particular connection to us other than a shared commitment to the value of public philosophical education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. These gifts have helped support faculty research, graduate student fellowships and conference travel, graduate and undergraduate awards for academic and instructional excellence, and sponsoring distinguished lecturers and conferences. We could not have had anything like the impact we have been recognized for apart from such generosity.
We would gratefully receive future gifts of any amount, whether donor-defined or general-fund. All of these funds are administered by the Indiana University Foundation on behalf of the Department of Philosophy. Our highest current priority is to deepen our support of our graduate students through summer fellowships, annual stipend 'top-off' awards, and the availability of more year-long research fellowships. We would also be glad to help offset some of the tuition costs of our most promising undergraduate majors.
