Welcome to Indiana University!

Our faculty members and affiliated researchers play a vital role in carrying out the university’s mission of research and education, and contribute greatly to the success of Indiana University (IU). In an effort to pursue excellent world-class research at IU, we have created this website to provide useful information pertaining to your research that will guide you throughout your time at IU. As a new principal investigator (PI) in the IU system, this website will familiarize you to the policies, procedures and administrative offices that will support your research and enhance your research career at IU.

At IU, the Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) maintains oversight of all research-related matters at IU with the support of the Office of Research Administration (ORA) and the Office of Research Compliance (ORC). The VPR is responsible for the administration of contracts and grants, the human subjects protection program, laboratory animals in research, conflict of interest, biosafety, laboratory safety, radiation safety, export control and more. Our goal is to provide outstanding service and support to the IU research community through the responsible conduct of research, through the highest standard of sound science, and through assuring all research activity is compliant with all local, state and federal regulations. This support strives to advance research while protecting the university’s interests and assuring that IU is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
