The Ernest Bernhardt-Kabisch Coffeehouse is a large space with tables for reading, working, eating, or visiting with friends. Many Collins organizations hold their meetings in the Coffeehouse.

It’s also a popular site for fireside chats by visiting scholars and artists, and for concerts, poetry readings, open mic nights, and other events hosted by Collins. The Collins Thespians utilize the Coffeehouse as a theatre, and residents also gather here for the Music Talent Show each semester. With so much happening, Collins residents need only stop in to find a friend, or entertainment for the evening.

The Coffeehouse is named for a former Director of the Living-Learning Center, Ernest Bernhardt-Kabisch. Ernest, also an Emeritus Professor in the Germanic Studies Department, comes back to visit occasionally and meet the newest residents.

Next door to the Coffeehouse is the Cheshire Café, a lively student-run coffee shop.
