Indiana University has a great deal to offer students considering graduate study in Latin American history.

Indiana’s graduate program in History is nationally ranked. The Latin American History program was recently ranked 8th in the nation by US News and World Report.

The program offers Latin Americanist faculty with a wide-range of expertise, who are able to offer diverse course offerings, the freedom and resources to work on a variety of dissertation topics and many options for minor field study. There is, in addition, a distinguished Latin Americanist faculty outside the History Department and excellent library holdings.

The varied strength of our Department allows students to choose from a variety of thematic, geographic, and chronological minors. Recent Latin American history students have chosen minors in Gender and Sexuality, US History, African History, Russian History, World History, African Diaspora History and Modern Europe. Indiana University has also just launched a new PhD double major in Cultural History.
