Conference LocationBloomington Campus of Indiana University The UCSRT Conference: The Future of Sexuality Research: Methodological to Social Policy Innovations will be held on the campus of Indiana University, located close to downtown Bloomington, Indiana, about 50 miles south of Indianapolis, Indiana. This is also the home of The Kinsey Institute. Participants will have an opportunity to tour the institute. To acquaint you with the scenic Bloomington campus, we invite you to take a virtual campus tour at: www.iub.edu/tour The IU Bloomington campus is a careful blend of traditional and modern architecture within a park-like environment. Made of locally quarried limestone, the University buildings add beauty and charm to the picturesque campus. Bloomington offers the charm of a small town and the sophistication of a cultural capital with international caliber performance in opera, music and theater. Local Time Zone Bloomington is in the Eastern Time Zone. At the time of the conference, Bloomington will be on Eastern Daylight Time, the same time as New York City and the East Coast of the United State, and one hour ahead of Chicago. Weather Early to mid-April is typically characterized by daytime temperatures in the middle seventies and nights in the low fifties. The campus and surrounding are in full spring bloom with flowering dogwood and redbud trees. Although this is one of the loveliest times to visit the campus, temperatures can vary considerably. We suggest that you bring layered clothing to accommodate either below or above average temperatures. PARKING Participants who are lodged at the Indiana Memorial Union will receive free parking in one of two lots adjacent to the building. Commuters or participants staying off campus may park in one of the two lots adjoining the Indiana Memorial Union. Discounted parking passes will be available for Kinsey Consortium participants at the registration check-in desk.
Lodging & MealsHOST HOTELINDIANA MEMORIAL UNION (IMU) 900 East 7 th Street Bloomington, IN 47405 The Indiana Memorial Union operates as a hotel, a conference center and a student union. Conference sessions, most food and social activities will take place in the IMU. 25 hotels rooms have been blocked at the Indiana Memorial Union for check-in on Sunday, April 8th; Reservations Contact the hotel directly. Inform the reservation staff person that you are attending the Kinsey Institute/UCSRT Conference.. Unless you identify yourself as a conference participant, you may be unable to obtain a room. We encourage you to make your reservation early as accommodations are often difficult to secure during the month of April – a busy time of year for many campus activities.
