General Information about the Clinic

Hours and Location

The Sexual Health Clinic's hours are Tuesdays, 8 am. - 4:30 p.m.

The Kinsey Institute Sexual Health Clinic is located on the 3rd floor of Morrison Hall, which is directly behind Memorial Hall (Third Street). An Indiana University map shows the location of Morrison Hall on the Bloomington campus.

Patients and Patient Referrals

The Kinsey Institute Clinic is open to the general public. Patients should have confirmed appointments.

Individuals may refer themselves to the clinic; however, it is helpful to have a referral letter sent to Dr. Bancroft from a physician or other health professional who knows the patient and can give background information.

It is preferred that requests for appointments be made in writing, with the reasons for the referral briefly stated; appointments also may be made by telephone.

To make an appointment, or for more information, contact:

1165 E. Third St.
Bloomington, IN 47405-2501

Fees and Insurance

At the present time, many people seeking help with sexual health or menstrual cycle problems are unable to get their assessment and treatment costs covered by health insurance. For that reason, and to make the clinics available to as many in the community as possible, charges have been reduced to a minimum, with no intent of making a profit. (Fees range from $25 to $60 for a one-hour session. I.U. students pay $15 per hour.) In order to maintain low fees, the clinics do not directly bill insurance companies or negotiate with them on a patient's behalf. The itemized statement provided by the cashier can be submitted for insurance reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service.

All patient records are confidential and will not be released without a patient's written permission, except as required by law.

Clinical Training of Sex Counselors

The clinics also provide an opportunity for clinical training of counselors in the area of sexual problems. Graduate students in clinical psychology and counseling may intern at the Sexual Health Clinic. For more information see Graduate Training or read about "Clinical Training at the Sexual Health Clinic," in the Institute's Spring 1998 newsletter, Kinsey Today.
