Volunteer Jobs and Internships
The Kinsey Institute offers volunteer opportunities for interested individuals with relevant experience and skills.
We have opportunities in research; assisting curatorial staff with the Kinsey Art Collection; assisting Kinsey Library staff; helping with front-desk reception and daily administration; development and fundraising; data management and computer technology; website design, social media, and graphic design; sex education through Kinsey Confidential blogging and student events; videography, and guiding tours of the Institute.

Tell us about your skills and experience, your area of interest in the Institute, and your application will be distributed to the relevant staff person, who will contact you if there are any openings.
PLEASE NOTE: Graduate students and advanced undergraduate students may be eligible for
internships and practicums at The Kinsey Institute. IU students may be eligible for credit hours.When you fill out the Student Volunteer form, indicate you are interested in an internship or practicuum. Internships are very limited.
Occasionally, Kinsey Institute staff will identify a specific position or area that could use volunteer support. Those positions will be posted below. Please follow the instructions listed to apply.
If no positions are currently listed, or if you do not fit the criteria for these positions, we encourage you to submit a general volunteer form or a student volunteer form to help in another area.
Volunteer Front Desk / Administrative - Fall 2014 & Spring 2015
Provide advanced secretarial support to the Director, Director of Finance & Operations, and other faculty/staff members of The Kinsey Institute. Primary jobs include maintaining security; greeting and screening guests; answering the telephone and responding to inquiries; collecting funds for gift shop sales, and arranging/scheduling tours. Must have excellent computer and organizational skills, as well as exercise discretion and maturity. Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality, and be comfortable working with the subject of sexuality, gender and reproduction and the research on these topics.
HOURS: 4 continuous hours, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. - Noon and 1 - 5 p.m. This position requires excellent customer relations skills and someone who is friendly with a professional tone and actions. Contact Pat Lacy, firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteer Docent / Tour Guide - Fall 2014 & Spring 2015
If you have an interest in the history, the art collections and the research of The Kinsey Institute, youmight be intersted in leading tours of the Institute. Docents conduct one hour interactive tours with student groups and classes. Training is provided. Contact Pat lacy, email@example.com.
