Recently, I became a member of a club I’m rather proud of. I have visited all 19 Smithsonian museums. An achievement 5 years in the making, I have greatly enjoyed my mini challenge. Each Friday, I would take some time and take in the free museums. I could spend all day in the Smithsonian galleries. After seeing amazing art, breathtaking collections, and wacky original creative exhibits, the Smithsonian museums are some of the best in the world. As a runner, animal lover, and child at heart, my favorite Smithsonian is the National Zoo.

An enormous area, the zoo features hundreds of awesome animals. I run through the zoo 3 times a week. Full of families, amateur photographers, and people old and young, the zoo attracts DC locals and tourists from all over the world. My favorite animals would have to be the Red Pandas. The Smithsonian zoo is one of the top conversationalist zoos in the country. Run by professional staff and a slew of volunteers, the Zoo provides fun for everyone.

I have grown to love the National Zoo.  On the Sunday of our last weekend here, we were all feeling more than a bit burnt out. Cramming finals, homework, and working a much needed study break was in order. We all decided to visit Zoo Lights, a special holiday celebration where the national zoo decorates its main trail with a series of beautiful Christmas lights. Overall, this semester has been an amazing experience. DC is full of adventures. I’m glad that I got to go on this adventure with the best people ever.
