IU Art Museum Provenance Project

Printroom Viewing
The museum has over five thousand prints, drawings, and photographs in storage. An inventory of the works-on-paper collection (with the exception of the Art Sinsabaugh and Henry Holmes Smith photo archives) is available in three red binders in the Fine Arts Library's red reference section, call number N518.B4 A63 (vols. 1-3). These binders are kept on one of the reference carrels in the library reading room.

Individuals or groups can request to view up to twenty works at one sitting (or not more than fifteen, if any of the works are oversize) in the museum’s works-on-paper study room. Due to the size of the viewing room, no more than fifteen people can be admitted at one time. Viewings for larger groups can be arranged in multiple sessions. There is no limit on the number of appointments. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

To request specific works that you or your group would like to see, fill out a study/storage appointment request sheet, which you can download using the link to the right. These forms also are available in the front of each red library binder, or from the museum receptionist (812-855-5445). Please allow at least one week's notice for scheduling. No appointment is set until confirmed by a museum graduate assistant. Contact Nan Brewer, the Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper, by phone at (812) 855-1040, or by e-mail at nabrewer@indiana.edu, if you need assistance in selecting pieces or for more information.
