Depictions on shaman's amulets refer to visions that appeared to the shaman while dreaming or in a trance, or they represent animal and/or human spirits with whom he had a particularly close relationship. This one shows a land otter, an animal comfortable both on land and in rivers and therefore, like the shaman, able to exist in more than one realm. The land otter was also a spirit associated with most shamans.
