The frequent appearance of the crocodile god suggests that it must
have represented an important deity or concept in Coclé religion.
Although we do not know the specific significance of the animal for
Coclé culture, its ferocious nature makes it a powerful symbol.
The pendant's form also may have been important, for it has been carved
to resemble other pendants made from whale teeth that do not depict
the crocodile god. |
