Art Sinsabaugh Archive
In 1978 Art Sinsabaugh established an archive for his work at the Indiana University Art Museum, Bloomington. The archive is a remarkable treasure trove including over 3,000 photographs; family memorabilia; class notes from his days at the Institute of Design; records from the early years of the Society for Photographic Education (of which he was a founding member); materials related to his teaching career in Chicago and at the University of Illinois; grant proposals; personal correspondence with contemporary photographers, scholars, and colleagues; his personal reference library; tax records; copies of all of the publications that included examples of his work; a master slide set of his complete oeuvre (up to 1978 when the archive was acquired); negatives; annotated topographical maps and “Triptiks”; laminated letters of public access; and even a piece from his orange-painted truck.
