A place to celebrate new ideas and practice old traditions, a place that connects you to the world and feels like home.

IU’s legendary Little 500 bicycle races have always raised money for student scholarships. But over the years, the men’s and women’s races have become the centerpiece of what’s known as the “World’s Greatest College Weekend,” an opportunity for students and high-profile visitors like Lance Armstrong and Barack Obama to celebrate this IU tradition each April.
Every year at IU is jam-packed with events like the Little 500, seemingly countless ways for students to get together and have fun. Here are a just a few.
IU sports fans have had a lot to celebrate over the years, including seven national team championships in soccer, six in swimming and diving, and five in basketball. Men’s basketball is our most popular sport, but we also have 23 other men’s and women’s varsity sports, many of which you can watch for free. And our recreational sports programs are considered among the best in the country.
Eclectic shops and restaurants line Kirkwood Avenue and the other streets of downtown. Lively discussions fill coffeehouses and cafes in the morning, and live music reverberates through performance venues nearly every night.
This is Bloomington, IU’s home and the quintessential college town. B-town has so much to offer—a farmers’ market, art fairs, festivals, bookstores, a Tibetan cultural center, historic architecture, lakes, parks, museums, theatres—that we challenge you to try to experience all of it in your time here.
Each fall, IU alumni and fans flock to campus for the Homecoming parade, football game, and other events. Students get in on the fun too: the “Yell Like Hell” spirit competition is one of the weekend’s highlights.
Visit IU and see everything there is to do here, including arts events, student activities, and other IU events.
