As a unit of the Department of Statistics, we can apply classical procedures and/or new methods on the cutting edge of statistical research.

Statistical Consultant/Lecturer

The Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for an applied statistician to work for the Indiana Statistical Consulting Center and teach one course per semester.

Job duties will include:

* Teach two Statistics courses per year (one in the Fall, one in the Spring)

* Consult with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff from across Indiana University's campuses in developing research projects, analyzing data, and interpreting results.

* Identify and explore analytic methods to address research questions, recommend alternative solutions that correspond to the needs of the client, and provide justification for recommendations. Re-evaluate recommendations when provided with new or updated data and research questions.

* Work independently and collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, and graduate students to develop optimal solutions for clients and assist with instruction of student interns.

* Communicate with clients in person, through email, on the phone, and via video as needed. Communications include asking probing questions, providing instructions, requesting further data and information, clarifying methods, and making recommendations. Adapt technical language and statistical skills to match the needs and abilities of clients.

* Write detailed reports of analysis methods and results to assist client in preparations for manuscript writing.

Requirements:

* A Ph.D. or M.S. in Statistics or a related field is required

* Experience in both teaching and consulting

* Proficiency in statistics software such as R, SAS, SPSS, and Stata
