Ron Osgood Develops Interactive Website on All Sides of the Vietnam War
Over the past two years, IDAH Fellow Ron Osgood has been developing an interactive online documentary project, "The Vietnam War/The American War: Stories from All Sides,” which will allow participants from both countries to upload memories in a variety of multi-media formats. Osgood, a film maker and Telecommunications professor, received funding for the project through a 2011 New Frontiers Grant, and began implementing the project through an IDAH Fellowship.
In connection with this project and the 2012 IUB Themester, Ron organized the event, "Making Ethnical Decisions During War - One North Vietnamese Soldier's Story" (October 11th, 2012), and brought North Vietnamese National Liberation Front (NLF) army veteran Nguyen Duc Toan to IUB to share stories of morality on the battlefield. Toan was responsible for capturing and saving the life of Philip Kientzler, the last American POW in 1973.
Osgood has also recently completed a documentary entitled, My Vietnam, Your Iraq: Eight Families, Two Generations about families with a parent who served in Vietnam and a child who served in Iraq.
