Teaching Seminars

A new series of HPER Teaching Seminars were planned and offered beginning spring 2003 with the aim of providing a fun and relaxing environment for faculty and instructors to learn and exchange ideas. It’s held once a month, on the last Friday of the month. There is a new topic for every month, ranging from teaching with technologies to teaching techniques.

Topics in Spring 2003:

  • PowerPoint: Beyond the Basics (February 2003 Teaching Seminar)
  • The Use of Digital Camera/Digital Video Equipment in Teaching (March 2003 Teaching Seminar)
  • Tips, Tools, and Techniques for Teaching Large Classes (April 2003 Teaching Seminar)

Topics for 2003-04 Academic Year

  • Oct 31: Teaching with Digital Media: from Audio/Video Clips to PowerPoint Presentation to Web and Course CD
  • Nov 21: Developing a Good Syllabus: Communicating Your Requirements, Expectations, and Intentions to Students
  • Jan 30: Getting Up-to-Date with Library Services Including E-reserves, etc.
  • Feb 27: Engaging Lectures
  • March 26: Classroom Assessment Techniques and Strategies that Enhance Student Learning
  • April 30: Grading Techniques and Practices
