The following information provides HPER faculty and instructor a step-by-step guide on developing a course website at IUB. If you have questions at any point of the process, contact HPER Instructional Consulting & Technology Services at 855-5435 for assistance. Prior to create a course website, it’s important
to explore and understand what it takes to development an online presence
that will be beneficial to student learning. University of Washington
provides an excellent overview on the creation of a course website, and
we highly recommend the reading (http://catalyst.washington.edu/quick/web_site.html). Applying for a Web Account at IUB

Usability
Accessibility When designing and developing your course website, it’s
important to make it as user-friendly as possible to people with disabilities.
Using the web can be challenging for those who are blind, color-blind,
have poor eye-sight, or who have impaired motor skills. Assistive technologies,
such as the screen reader JAWS, allow users with disabilities to use the
web. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) defines three levels of accessibility:
Priority 1, Priority 2 and Priority 3. Priority 1 accessibility is, according
to the W3C, a requirement for any web site, whereas Priority 2 and Priority
3 are encouraged but optional. The W3C provides checklists for each priority,
which can be found at http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/full-checklist.html.
