Each year, the Indiana University History Graduate Student Association hosts a conference
allowing local and regional scholars to present their research.
The title of the 2015 conference is On the Move: Exploring Migration, Transformation, and Encounters. The 2015 conference will include two days of panels in addition to a keynote lecture from an outstanding historian in our region.
This year’s conference defines “movement” broadly: migrations, encounters, departures, arrivals, exchanges, intersections, confrontations, and transformations. We seek innovative submissions designed to spark lively discussion about the circulation of information, propaganda, and rumors; about the migration of peoples, values, goods, and ideas; about interactions at borderlands, frontiers, and sites of encounter. Simply put, what happens when people, things, and ideas move, meet, and interact?
