The Professional Development Council

As Indiana University’s sole scholarship and professional development program targeting underrepresented populations with demonstrated high scholastic aptitude and achievement, companies and organizations continue to seek partnership opportunities with the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program (HHSP). We are happy to announce a reorganization of our Partner Program into the Professional Development Council (PDC), in an effort to support HHSP and partner initiatives which maximize and fully benefit all stakeholders. If you company/organization values diversity and is committed to inclusion, and you are looking for access to the best and brightest at Indiana University Bloomington, the Hudson & Holland PDC may be for you!

An integral part of the Council’s mission is to assist HHSP in equipping Scholars with the personal and professional development necessary to succeed in a global society and in their chosen career paths. More specifically, PDC members will not only provide advice and programming toward professional development and assist students with the acquisition of transferable skills necessary to be successful and productive leaders of tomorrow, but they will also provide insight into current recruitment trends for internship and full-time employment, best practices, and the like. On an ongoing basis, Council members will be asked to provide programmatic reviews of HHSP LEAD Initiatives to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness for Scholars.

Council members participate in a tax-deductible annual membership pledge of $10,000 to support programmatic expenses (e.g., All-Cohort LEAD Conference, Mentoring, Supplemental Instruction, Town Hall Meetings, etc.). The Council meets face-to-face twice per academic year (once per semester). To accommodate the geographic and time constraints of members and HHSP leadership, the Council will primarily conduct conference calls instead of face-to-face meetings; follow-up discussions will be conducted via email and/or IUB Oncourse Project Site.

PDC membership provides you and your company a key benefit and great opportunity to look toward a long-term recruitment strategy with our nearly 700 diverse Scholars. Potential avenues for accessing and interacting with Scholars include, but are not limited to:

We sincerely hope you will consider joining our family of stakeholders (students, staff, on-/off-campus partners) through the Hudson &Holland Professional Development Council.
