About the GGC

The GradGrants Center (GGC) is a free service of the University Graduate School. It is open to currently enrolled graduate students within the Indiana University system.

We offer:

~ Workshops:

  • on a variety of funding-related topics (tailored upon request for specific classes, departments programs or organizations)
  • bi-weekly database search training, walk-in hours and search sessions in the Social Science Research Commons in Woodburn Hall. (See right sidebar for dates for the current semester)
  • See our website for dates and times.

~ Consultations:

one-on-one proposal drafting advising sessions with our award-winning consultants are available for any external (non-IU) funding opportunity:

  • in-person in the GGC
  • virtually via Skype, Adobe Connect or Lync
  • by email and/or phone for clients away from campus.

Before your first visit to the GGC, we recommend reviewing the following (unedited) Livestream archives from our Fall 2014 Orientation presentations:

Introduction to Graduate Funding at IU

(presentation begins c. 16″)

Advanced Strategies for Database Research

(presentation begins c. 12:30″)

Our office is located in the East Tower of Wells Library, 6th floor, Room 651, on the Bloomington campus.

Walk-in Hours and most workshops are held in the Social Science Research Commons, Woodburn Hall 200.

Scheduling an Appointment:

The GGC is only open when classes are in session.

Our weekly hours vary each semester and are always posted on the website for the current term. Since consultants are regularly out of the office to assist in workshops and other programming related to UGS-administered programs, including Fulbright, Fulbright-Hays, DAAD, Boren, NSF, HHMI and CLS, please email in advance to request an appointment.

Our schedule usually fills up at least a week in advance during the busy grant season (August-November and January-March).

Please email gradgrnt@indiana.edu to schedule appointments or to request workshops for classes or student groups.

**Effective August 2014, the GGC no longer offers in-office search appointments or consultations related to IU/internal funding opportunities.

These services are available on a first-come, first-served basis during our walk-in hours in the SSRC (Woodburn Hall 200). We also recommend visiting Writing Tutorial Services (WTS) and Career Services for assistance with CV/resume and (internal) application or proposal drafting.**
