Website: http://www.sanshinji.org

Sanshin Zen Community is an American Buddhist sangha founded in 1996 by Shohaku Okumura, a Soto Zen priest and renowned translator of Buddhist texts. From the beginning, Sanshinji was designed to be a different kind of practice place - a “community without boundaries,” doing work that would help connect and educate practitioners and teachers all over America. Like most Buddhist communities, Sanshin welcomes LBGT people in every capacity without hesitation. Our usual weekly practice includes Sunday morning zazen (meditation) instruction at 9:00 and dharma talk at 10:00, followed by tea and a community gathering open to all. The schedule is different during retreats, which usually includes the first weekend each month. For further details, including daily morning zazen, evening zazen, and classes, please see the website.
