I. FAQ revision:
Ursula has worked on a bit--hardest part: the response to the question "IU's struggling . . . why should we ask for more?" This gets
back to our problem with analyzing the budget. Looked up Herbert's salary--but he's leaving, so we may not want to use that. Maybe
we don't have to have specific numbers? Average level of admins.? Athletics?--losing but IU still sinks money into the program.
Buildings? (but space is needed by grad employees too.) Original answer modeled on Mich. State. Find out how much goes into
faculty salaries?
The parts that really need to change are the bits about our relationship to CWA & so forth since that's new policy; U. has already
taken care of that part.
U. will send a copy of the file out for ideas from the rest of us.
II. U. has a contact with an open-source union in CA--strategy has worked for them. Address grievances--put something on website for
people to submit? So hard to get in touch w/people--we can at least send letters--say we did something . . .
III. Fundraising possibilities:
Poker Night--beginning of semester, welcome to IU--can recycle flyers (shell out for colored ones?--can get copying discount from
SAO)
Where? need decent amt. of space--could ask members, could ask Jeff.
Have a sign-in sheet?--careful not to pressure people, but they may want to hear about future poker nights
Bake sale?
T-shirts--spring or next year: start moving towards. New logo--confusion with old? Use both? Risky to use trident on t-shirt.
Can easily make banner with new image. Maybe alter new image to fit color scheme of website.
IV. Needs for fall campaigns--stuff to get printed up w/summer print quotas!
-health care flyer for beginning of semester (joint thing w/No Sweat! would be difficult until after semester starts)
needs to mention what we've lost
revise it to be general
compare w/another big 10 school? (contrast dental; one gives dependent coverage at least)
