Giving to the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology
The Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology is committed to supporting its students and alumni and, by extension, to enhancing life in the communities in which we all live and work and to strengthening the global disciplines of ethnomusicology and folklore studies. Financial donations to the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology strengthen this work and are deeply appreciated by our faculty, staff, and students. We welcome gifts of any size and donor funds can be directed to a wide range of purposes that will enhance our work in teaching, research, and community service. Donations are used to support a variety of activities, including student prizes and research grants, visiting lectures, and the purchase of musical instruments for our world music ensembles. Our department is beginning to undertake new efforts to gather endowment funds that can be used to sustain long-term initiatives, such as visiting faculty and lecturers and graduate student support. Whether they are providing a small occasional gift in support of a student paper prize or pursuing a large estate plan to help expand the faculty, we are most appreciative of all of those friends of the department who are investing in our future. We are committed to being serious stewards of all of the gifts with which we are entrusted.
For those who wish to make a donation online, it is easy to do and contributions can be made to four IU Foundation Funds that are available for this purpose:
The Ethnomusicology Program Fund supports our work in this field.
The Folklore Enrichment Fund strengthens both our efforts in folklore studies and provides resources for department-wide initiatives.
The Richard M Dorson Memorial Fund
The Traditional Old-Time Music & Dance Fund
If you have interest in, or questions about, making a donation to the department, please feel encouraged to contact us directly or you may contact the Office of Advancement in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Thank you very much for your support.
