The Institute for European Studies (EURO) at IU promotes knowledge of Europe and the European Union through education, scholarship, and public outreach. Our academic degree programs train specialists committed to strengthening transatlantic ties through careers in public service, business, research, and teaching.
For nearly 50 years, EURO has prepared students for work in a wide variety of fields, including government, business, academia, and K-12 education. Through our flexible degree programs, students have the opportunity to tailor an educational experience to their unique interests and goals. Course offerings from 20 departments in eight schools and the chance to study any of twenty European Languages ensures that EURO students have the expertise, analytical ability, and communication skills necessary to be an asset to any team. EURO offers two undergraduate minors, a Master's degree, a Ph.D. minor, and the opportunity to earn joint Master's degrees with the prestigious Kelley School of Business (MA/MBA) or renowned School of Public and Environmental Affairs (MA/MPA).
EURO's mission also takes us away from the IU Bloomington campus. It is our duty to increase knowledge and awareness of Europe and the European Union in the local community and beyond. We have a variety of resources, programming, and funding opportunities for K-12 educators looking to bring Europe into the classroom, and our relationship with local businesses and IU's Center for International Business Education and Research has created a better understanding of the European business environment.
Be it cutting edge research by our affiliated faculty or teaching grade school students about Carnival, something is always happening at EURO.
