African American Arts Institute Spring 2013 Auditions

The African American Arts Institute welcomes all to its Spring 2013 auditions for the African American Dance Company, the African American Choral Ensemble, and the IU Soul Revue


African American Dance Company
Tue., Jan. 8, at 7pm
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center Room A217

AUDITION DETAILS
Short warm-up followed by a dance combination given by the director. Do not bring prepared dance routines. Dance specialties will be evaluated at the end of the auditions. No dance experience necessary to audition.

COURSE CREDIT (2 cr.)
A100 Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies

AUDITION DRESS
Dance attire. Leotards, tights, jazz shoes or bare feet. Men may wear sweat-pants. No street wear, tight pants, or shorts.

African American Choral Ensemble

No audition required. Singing evaluations and part assignments will be given in class. Class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4pm.

ADMISSION DETAILS
Vocalists must register and attend the first day of class, Mon., Jan. 7, 2013. Vocal evaluations and part assignments will be made on the first day of class. Instrumentalists should contact Choral Ensemble director, Dr. Raymond Wise at (812) 855-9501 or aaai@indiana.edu.

IU Soul Revue
Wed., Jan. 9. at 7pm
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center Room A219

AUDITION DETAILS
Vocalists prepare one piece a cappella or bring a recording to accompany your solo. You will be asked to match pitches and harmonize. Instrumentalists bring your instrument and be prepared to solo and accompany in a combo setting on an R&B, Soul, or Gospel piece. Drums and amplifiers provided.
