Introduction

Welcome to the Web site of the Test of English Proficiency for International Associate Instructor Candidates (TEPAIC). This site is designed to describe the TEPAIC to all test stakeholders at Indiana University: all interested students, advisors, faculty members, staff, and administrators.

The Indiana University TEPAIC is administered by the Department of Second Language Studies at the request of the Dean of the Faculties. It is required for currently enrolled graduate students whose mother tongue is not English and whose academic departments have encouraged them to apply for the position of Associate Instructors (AIs). As a pre-requisite to the TEPAIC, as well as having the possibility of an assistantship from a department, AI candidates must meet minimum TOEFL requirements, which include overall TOEFL scores, sub-scores, and written scores. (See TOEFL Requirements on the sidebar.)
