| Teaching
Statement I believe that teachers are to share their enthusiasm, understanding and knowledge with students and facilitate, guide, support and learn with them together. “Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.” This is the goal of our education. We guide them to make a bridge between life at school and life in the real world. We inspire and support them along the way with our passion. We want our students to be lifelong learners. The effective teaching includes two necessary and related parts --- knowledge of content and communicative skill. As a foreign language teacher, my purpose of teaching is not only to make my students learn the target language but also to let them learn how to use the language to communicate with people in the authentic world. I try diverse approaches to connect the classroom with the real life. An effective teacher has high expectations for students’ success. At the first class I tell my students that success always belongs to hard work. I am sure everyone has the ability to learn this very unique language and you will be successful if you make an effort. In my class every student is expected to participate equally. Everyone is unconditionally valued and respected, regardless of ability, gender and race. Creating an encouraging and supporting atmosphere is another effective way to help students learn. I firmly believe that students can learn better in a safe and comfortable environment. In my class I always try to make my students feel comfortable and supported when they do their work. |
