Statement As a Chinese language teacher or other teachers, I think the first and also the most important is to love what you are doing and to love students you are teaching. Just like a saying said that attitude decides the results. During this almost two years teaching as a Chinese language teacher, I gradually realize that my attitude directly influence on learning attitude of my students. For instance, if i dress casual and look tied, my students will show the same reflections to me soon which will definitely slow lesson plan down. Therefore I like to cheer my students up at very beginning of my class. Having a good start is not enough for American students. They also need specific method to learn this language which is totally different from English language system. So I use a lot of pictures, music teaching materials, as well as the freedom topic for them, in this way they can feel freedom and space. At the same time, I separate students into several groups to match and help each other. At the end, the homework is necessary to help them review what we have learnt in the class. I always have to follow up to make sure every to do their homework and return homework assignment on time, otherwise the proper punishment on student should be use. In this kind of situation, I always leave extra work to do or directly talk with their parents. |
