Statement My teaching I love teaching and sharing my knowledge and experience with young minds, and I have a passion to work with children and to help them to grow. As an educator, my goal is to teach children to enjoy learning, to be life-long learners and to be productive citizens of their communities locally, nationally, and globally. At the same time, I also focus on teaching students how to learn independently and seek to create excitement in learning. I always encourage students not to fear making mistakes. Sometimes in class, I purposefully make humorous mistakes to encourage students to laugh and focus their minds on trying to speak without fear. Once students are more relaxed, I focus on increasing their level of participation through role playing, extemporaneous speaking, and small conversations. The students become even more active and motivated to learn when I introduce discussion topics about which the students are passionate. My teaching strategy is to start with songs and stories to make my lessons more interesting. I also like to use basic building blocks, such as vocabulary and simple translation, and then building on this foundation with creating sentences and then short compositions. I find it very rewarding to see students grow in knowledge and confidence when using a second language as well as exploring different cultures through my lessons. |
