Admissions IU Bloomington

Admission to IU is selective. Competitive applicants have completed a solid, well-balanced academic program from grade 9 through grade 12; have earned strong, above-average grades in those academic subjects; are well within the top half of their class; and have competitive SAT and/or ACT scores. It is important to take the SAT and/or ACT no later than the spring of your junior year and retake the exams early in fall semester of your senior year. Completion of Core 40 is required. To meet minimum requirements for consideration, students in grades 9, 10, and 11 need to have:

• at least 28 semesters of college-prep coursework
• above-average grades in academic coursework (English, mathematics, social science, laboratory science, and foreign language)
• competitive SAT and/or ACT scores (the writing section is required)
• a class rank well within the top half of the class (if school provides a ranking)
