Involvement Opportunities
Collins is all about involvement. Get ACTive this year with the place you live, eat, play and study. Below are some organizations that are always looking for more people who would like to participate. Becoming an involved and active member in any of the organizations below can even count as your Q-project for Q199.
 
Board of Governors (BOG) - The legislative body of the Collins Student Government. BOG is a governing board of students composed of governors from each floor. They address and discuss community issues, hear resident grievances and allocate funds for programming. Board of Programmers (BOP) - This group plans and puts on many major annual events at the LLC including Welcome Week, the Halloween Dance, Dickens Dinner, Viennese Ball, Collinsfest and more. They are always looking for volunteers to help plan, organize and implement the programs that define Collins. Contact Alex Lahmeyer at alahmeye@indiana.edu
 
Community Council (CC) - This group includes representatives of the Student Government, RAs, each Collins hall, LLC staff and others. They come together each week to discuss scheduling and funding of events as well as policy issues that affect everyone at Collins (like quiet hours and field trip rules). CC meets every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
 
Collins Judicial Board (J-Board) - a peer disciplinary and educational committee. Violations of residence hall or university regulations result in a hearing before J-Board, which helps students understand the purpose of various rules and what it means to be a citizen of a community. J-Board consists of 7-12 justices and the Judicial Board Chair. If you would like more information, or are interested in applying to become a justice, contact Chelsea Merta at ckmerta@indiana.edu.
 
Arts Council - This group supports and finances art, music, dance, and theatre activities in Collins. Arts Council Coordinators are in charge of the ceramics studio, darkroom, video editing suite, and other arts-related facilities. If you are interested in Arts Council, attend a meeting every other Sunday at TIME or contact Madeline Wolfe at madwolfe@indiana.edu
 
Board of Educational Programming (BOEP) - Helps develop and choose the courses that become the Collins seminars. They also help fund and plan educational trips and activities in Collins – truly a one-of-a-kind group across the country. Contact boep@indiana.edu
 
Environmental Force (E-Force) - E-force is in charge of recycling and other “green” activities here. They sponsor a variety of events such as camping trips and participation in Earth Day. Contact Elizabeth Danielson at ecdaniel@indiana.edu
 
Sports and Recreation Director - plans and facilitates activities that are recreation related including camping trips, hikes, pick up games around Collins. This person is responsible for the camping and sports equipment that is available for student use, and provides assistance in funding or planning of any desired recreational activity.
 
Community Involvement Director - works to provide opportunities for Collinsites to give back to IU and the Bloomington community.  They are also available for personal consultation in finding individual volunteer opportunities for those who are interested leads bi-weekly meetings to update members of future programs within the community. Past Programs have included volunteering at the Monroe County Humane Society, Rise Trick or Treating, collecting funds and purchasing gifts for Be a Santa to a Senior, and helping the American Red Cross with Collins Blood Drives.
