1. For regular events (happening more than twice per semester), Collins students need to be organizing/leading the event in order for CC to support with both space and/or money.
2. For special events (happening 1-2 times per semester), Collins students need to be involved, but do not necessarily need to be organizing/leading the event in order for CC to support with space; however, they must be organizing/leading in order for CC to support with money. Furthermore, CC money is specifically designated for in-center events, and therefore money given to events in collaboration with outside groups will be limited and will only occur if the outside group is holding their event within Collins.
4. Definitions of short courses will be established through sponsorship by BOEP.
5. Floor lounges are restricted to RAs and residents of that building/floor and are not available for CC to allocate space.
6. When possible, large events (those requiring the entire room) will not be booked simultaneously in both the Coffeehouse and Ed Formal. Events such as meetings do not qualify as a large event and can occur simultaneously. Exceptions can be made if necessary. When possible, meetings should be booked in Ed Formal as opposed to the Coffeehouse.
7. Banners are available for official Collins events only, not to outside groups. Only one banner may be hung per week, decided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Banners may only remain up for one day. Banners are only available for special events (occurring 1-2 per semester), not for regular events. (Exceptions include hanging a banner to advertise the first event in a series, i.e. the first Fireside Chat, but banners may not be hung for each one).
8. Table tents are available for official Collins events only (with the exception of RPS mandated advertising). Only one event may utilize table tents per week, decided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Table tents may remain up for a maximum of five days (Monday through Friday).
9. If bulletin boards become too crowded, fliers for official Collins events take precedence over those for outside events. In order to prevent crowding, all individuals are encouraged to tear down fliers for events that have already passed.
11. Collins cannot support groups and/or events which endorse a particular political party and/or candidate. We will support groups concerned with a particular issue, as long as they agree to encourage open dialogue from all perspectives.
12. Community Council funds are to be used for community-wide programming only. Floor programming must be approved through BOG.
13. The Events Technical Coordinator shall attend meetings and give input regarding events that require technical support. Furthermore, he or she shall serve as the official Collins Community Council liaison to events in order to ensure that all RPS and Collins policies are enforced.
14. No disruptive events (i.e. those requiring amplification) shall be permitted during Dead Week or Finals Week; however, programming will be permitted in the Edmondson and Cravens classrooms, as well as the Brown film screening room, during Dead Week provided they comply with normal quiet hours and are intended to provide residents with a study break (i.e. fun film screenings, holiday parties, etc.). Educational programming is discouraged during Dead Week, and no event may be scheduled during Finals Week.
15. Technology in the Edmondson and Cravens classrooms is reserved for Collins seminar instructors; student film screenings are to be scheduled in the Brown Film Screening room when possible; the Coffeehouse and Ed Formal are potential alternatives.
