Improving your English

Many international graduate students have studied English for several years but have had little opportunity to speak or listen to the kind of idiomatic language heard on campus. Being immersed in the language and culture of the university is the best way to improve or "activate" your skills. Talk to native speakers as much as possible to get used to slang, idioms and fast speech. Watching television is a good way to relax and to accustom your ear to both formal and conversational English. You can also find support through campus and community classes, conversation partnerships and websites that make language improvement a click away.
