| Methods
Currently, the lab employs a variety of methods,
including:
- Golgi histology and retrograde labeling techniques to visualize
whole neurons for assessment of changes in morphology of dendrites
and spines, which are critical determinants of neuronal function
- Quantitative autoradiography to assess changes in receptor
binding

- In situ hybridization to assess changes in expression of
mRNA for receptor subunits, which may contribute to changes
in receptor function

- Immunohistochemistry to assess changes in amounts of receptor
protein, which contribute to changes in receptor function
- Behavioral testing to assess stress- or age-related changes
in cognitive processes mediated by prefrontal cortex
