Ease of access for students If you are using other Oncourse features for this class, the Online Gradebook will be more easily accessible to students. If you only want to post scores, Post'Em will be easier to access.
How scores are collected You can grade assignments that students submit on-line through Oncourse. Scores can also be uploaded from a spreadsheet or text file. Scores must be collected into a spreadsheet or text file and then uploaded.
Downloading scores Scores can be downloaded by exporting to a file with a .csv extension. Scores can be downloaded by displaying scores and saving them as a text file with a .csv extension.
Editing scores Scores can be edited one at a time by clicking the student username or assignment name. The scores file must be edited and the entire file must be uploaded again.
Format of scores Oncourse displays scores to students in a table with three columns: Assignment, Grade, Comments. By default, Post'Em displays student scores in only two columns (for assignments and scores).
Format of scores Grades must be 5 or fewer characters. Scores must not contain commas.
Comments There is a column for comments on each score. There is not a comments column, but the last row can contain comments, and any other row can contain comments if it does not contain commas.
Editing Comments Comments can only be added through Oncourse; they cannot be uploaded. Comments are uploaded with scores.
Layout customization The screen layout is fixed. The instructor can create a customized screen layout using HTML.
Students permitted All students must be listed in the course roster. Students may be in different sections of the same course. Students must only have an IU network ID.
